Maintenance and upkeep of band saws

As a basic metal processing machine tool, the band saw machine, due to its complex structure, involves modules such as hydraulics, transmission, clamping, sawing and cooling. If not used properly or with bad usage habits, it will affect the failure rate and service life of the band sawing machine. This article will provide a detailed introduction to the daily use and maintenance precautions of band saws.

1. During use, always pay close attention to observe and check whether all operating components are working properly and if there are any abnormal sounds. If so, the cause should be identified and eliminated in time.

2.During the chip cutting process, a large amount of iron chips are produced and accumulated on the worktable surface and in the saw wheel screen. They should be removed in time to avoid clogging the saw teeth, which may affect the chip cutting effect and the service life of the saw band.

3. Regularly check the cleanliness and quantity of the coolant and hydraulic oil to ensure adequate oil supply and prevent blockage of hydraulic components, which could lead to abnormal operation of the machine tool.

4. Sufficient lubricating oil should be added to the guide rail surface and lubrication points. Grease should be added to the bearing of the passive saw wheel once every half a year.

5. Finish the work every day. The band saw blade should be loosened to increase its service life.

6.The lubricating oil in the turbine transmission should be replaced regularly, usually every six months.

7.When the machine tool is idle, oil seals should be applied to the guide rails and processing surfaces to prevent rusting of the working surfaces.

8. To enhance the performance of the saw band, each time a new saw blade is replaced, it should be run-in first. That is, when cutting, the first few cuts should be made at a low speed with a small feed rate. After the burrs at the tooth tips are removed, the cutting should be carried out according to the normal chip parameters.
